Sea Scouts

It is made up of boys and girls, ages 10½ to 14 years.

Meetings are held every Friday evening from 7.15 to 9.15 pm
Open most Sunday afternoons during the summer.

It is led by Scout Leader Mike Davidson, assisted by ASL's Clifford Coombes.

 

Promise

I promise that I will do my best to do my duty to God and to the Queen,
to help other people and to keep the Cub Scout Law.

 

Law

                                                                                              1. A Scout is to be trusted.

                                                                                              2. A Scout is loyal.

                                                                                              3. A Scout is friendly and considerate.

                                                                                              4. A Scout belongs to the world-wide family of Scouts.

                                                                                              5. A Scout has courage under all difficulties.

                                                                                              6. A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions.

                                                                                              7. A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.

 

Activities

Here is a list of some the activities that we try to do during the year.
This list is just a sample as it constantly changes depending on the
wishes of the boys and girls the planning of the Patrol Leaders Council.

The group has a number of BCU Kayak instructors to enable to run our own courses.
We also give instruction in Dingy pulling, sculling over the stern, gig pulling and power boating

Paddlesport events. Scouts can try out different paddling activities through the winter months.

Uniform

The Scout Association is a uniformed organisation, therefore you will need to have a uniform to join the Scouts.
You may find that you already have one or two of the required items that you wear to school.
The uniform list is as follows:

Sea Scout cap and tally band.
Blue Sea Scout jersey
Black and red group scarf.
Black, Dark Grey or Navy Blue trousers.
Scout belt.
Black socks
Black shoes.

The troop leaders will be able to advise you on where to purchase your Scout uniform,
which should be done before you complete the Scout Membership badge.
